Ontology-Based Modelling of Geospatial Information

چکیده
Seamless sharing and exchange of geospatial information between systems in a distributed environment, like the Internet, is an essential requirement for such information to evolve as a necessary tool in every day’s activities. Perhaps the most difficult problem facing the pursuing of this goal is that of semantic heterogeneity. From the database perspective semantic heterogeneity arises from differences in the meaning of the abstract objects in different information systems.

Probabilistic Geospatial Ontologies
Partial knowledge about geospatial categories is critical for knowledge modelling in the geospatial domain but is beyond the scope of conventional ontologies. Degree of overlaps between geospatial categories, especially those based on geospatial actions concepts and geospatial enitity concepts need to be specified in ontologies. We present an approach to encode probabilistic information in geos...

متن کاملDeveloping a BIM-based Spatial Ontology for Semantic Querying of 3D Property Information
With the growing dominance of complex and multi-level urban structures, current cadastral systems, which are often developed based on 2D representations, are not capable of providing unambiguous spatial information about urban properties. Therefore, the concept of 3D cadastre is proposed to support 3D digital representation of land and properties and facilitate the communication of legal owners...
متن کاملA Fuzzy Geospatial Ontology Model and Its Application in Geospatial Semantic Retrieval
Geospatial ontology plays a key role in Geospatial Semantic Retrieval (GSR), which provides support for query expansion and disambiguation, relevance ranking and web page annotation. However, existing ontologies are deficient in representing and reasoning fuzzy geospatial information, an important type of information that distributes widely in user’s queries and web pages. This paper proposes a...
متن کاملUsing an Ontology-based Approach for Geospatial Clustering Analysis
Geospatial clustering is an important method for geospatial information analysis. However, most clustering methods do not consider semantic information during the clustering process. In this paper, we present a formal geospatial clustering ontology framework, which can provide the background for geospatial clustering. Using the ontology, geospatial clustering can become a knowledge-driven process.
